Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What vet work is done on the puppies?
A:  Before the pups go to their new homes the tails are docked, dewclaws removed, first puppy shot is given, and they are dewormed, microchipped and spayed/neutered.  All of this is done by my father, a veterinarian.

Q: Why do you spay/neuter at a young age?
A:  We spay/neuter our puppies at about 7 weeks of age.  Being that they are small and young, there is less surgery time and faster recovery time.  A wonderful benefit is that the males do not have a chance for testosterone to take an effect; they do not develop the habit of lifting their legs.  There is much literature pertaining to early spay/neuter on the internet.

Q:What is microchipping?
A:  A microchip is an electronic ID the size of a grain of rice placed under the skin of the puppy in between the shoulder blades.  The paperwork associated with the microchip will be given to you at the time of adoption.  You can then register your name and other information with a national database for a fee of $15.  All humane shelters are given universal scanners to read these microchips.

Q: Do you ship?
A:  Yes, we ship within the United States via Northwest airlines out of LaCrosse, Wisconsin.  We charge a $100 shipping charge to cover our costs (trip to airport, carrier, health paper), and the plane ticket (roughly $175-$200) can be paid upon the pup's arrival at the airport.

Q: How big are the puppies?

A:  At 8-9 weeks when the puppies go to new homes, they are 4-6 pounds.  At maturity, depending on the size of the parents, they are 12-20 pounds.

Q: Should we get a boy or a girl?

A:  We encourage that your decision not be based on gender.  Due to the fact that we spay/neuter all our pups at an early age, there is little temperamental difference between the genders.  The boys do not get a chance to develop the habit of lifting their leg and they are not aggressive as some male dogs may be.

Q: Do you have a health guarantee?

A: Yes, we guarantee that the puppy will have no congenital life-threatening disease for 2 years after adoption, or we will refund or replace the puppy.

Q: How do I adopt?

A:  Send us an email (schnoodl@acegroup.cc) telling us about the environment the puppy would be in including how many members there are in your household and the ages of the children in the household.  Also send us any questions you have.  On litters that are not yet born, you can place a $100 non-refundable deposit.  The first person to place a deposit on that litter has first pick of the litter, etc.  The total cost per puppy is $750 (excluding parti colored puppies which are $950).

Q: What are first-generation schnoodles?
A:  First generation means that the parents are pure bred poodle and schnauzer as opposed to breeding schnoodle to schnoodle.  We only breed first generation schnoodles: miniature poodle mothers to miniature schnauzer fathers.
